Gary Hughes wins Sir Keith Murdoch Award

Gary Hughes, of The Australian, is the winner of the 2009 Sir Keith Murdoch Award for his moving coverage of the Victorian bushfires. Judges said his personal account of how he lost everything in the Black Saturday fires was a courageous, gripping and emotionally charged body of work which displayed outstanding professionalism at a time of great despair. Warren Brown, of The Daily Telegraph, was the winner of the inaugural Cartoonist of the Year Award. Click here to see the full list of winners.
