Chairman’s Award

Chairman’s Award

This award honours extraordinary ideas, words, actions, or courage that inspired - or benefited - colleagues, readers, or the industry as a whole.

Criteria

The Chairman’s Award aims to capture the spirit of newspapers and News Limited. The winner may be an individual or team who went beyond the call of duty, who worked against considerable odds, or whose contribution has not been fully recognised before.

This includes original and creative ideas or innovations that became successful masthead initiatives.

However, the winning actions or ideas must have had a demonstrable impact on an editorial department, its coverage of a story, or on its audience.

Who can enter

The award is open to any News Limited employee, not just editorial staff.

How to Enter

The award is at the chairman’s discretion and there is no formal nomination process.

Anyone wishing to volunteer suggestions for the award should read the preliminary instructions on this website, then complete an entry coupon online, detailing what the inspirational act or idea was, and why it should win. You may attach any relevant documents.

You may also send a CD-ROM to: News Awards, c/o Corporate Affairs, Level 5, News Limited, 2 Holt Street, Surry Hills, NSW 2010. Please include your contact details.

You may send your entry in the internal mail, where this service is provided – but email Sarah Cullens cullenss@newsltd.com.au so we know a CD entry has been lodged.

Entries from PNG, Fiji, WA Community Newspapers and some areas of News Digital Media will need to be via CD because they have no access to the entry coupon from the website.

Closing date

Nominations must be received by Thursday, August 3.
