The Sir Keith Murdoch Award for Journalism

This is the major News Award. It recognises an outstanding body of news-breaking or campaigning journalism that demonstrates the leadership, initiative and courage of the reporter(s) and the impact of the story.
Criteria
- The impact of publication on public opinion
- To what extent they were a catalyst for a change in the law or changes in public attitude, behaviour or policy
- How they demonstrate the leadership, initiative and courage of the reporter (s)
- How they demonstrate the writer(s) ability to consistently break news, find truth or defend free speech or deliver quality journalism in exceptional circumstances
- If relevant, how digital platforms were used effectively in the coverage This award is for a body of up to five stories (including those that are representative of a longer series of articles) and the work may come from any section of the newspaper.
What to submit
Entry must include:
- Up to five examples of work to support the entry.
- A supporting statement of up to 1200 words describing the body of work. Who can enter It is open either to individuals, or to teams that are jointly responsible for the entry.
How much work to enter
You may enter only five pieces of work to support your entry. Please do not enter more than five. The judges will assess only the first five. If you are submitting a long-running series or investigation, choose just five stories that are representative of the entire work. You may use your background statement to explain the rest.
